We looking for a Legal Assistant (1 year contract)  based : Kenya

Job description:

The role reports to the Legal Manager and based at the Head office.

 

The main purpose of the role is to assist in the development and implementation of the Legal strategy for the different CFAO automotive companies in Kenya in line with CFAO guidelines and in compliance with the local legislation.

The ideal candidate will offer legal business support and as such will assist with management of legal risks, support in the review, and management of legal cases and support in debt collection, contract drafting and review, prepare corporate documentation to ensure compliance to statutory, legal and the operating environment as well as corporate governance compliance.

 

Profil request:

 

Main responsibilities for the role;

1. Litigation

Liaising with external lawyers to ensure timely and comprehensive updates of all the matters they are handling on behalf of the organization. Get updates of the matters
Assist the team in preparation for hearing and witness pre-trial preparation as well as accompanying the witness to court.
Preparation of legal reports and updating case management tool.
Track litigation cases outcomes, average total cost of the cases, average expenditure on litigation, legal expenses, settlement and regulatory cost and cases closed before pre discovery period
Record keeping.

2. Legislation update

Monitor legal and regulatory changes and work with the Legal team to appropriately advice the organization on the impact of regulatory changes.
 

3. Standard Contracts

Review of standard contracts and custody of up-to-date standard templates
 

4. Legal Support

Any other duties that may be assigned by the Legal Manager from time to time.
Management of contracts through DocuSign
Tracking of contract expiry
 

5. Corporate Governance

·       Assist the Legal Manager in the development and implementation of legal department

·       Flag inefficient processes 

·       Work with the Legal Manager in ensuring the Company is following laws and regulations, managing legal risks and disputes, providing advice and guidance

·       Proactively address these problems before they impact the wider business

Minimum level of experience required to perform effectively in the role

a) Bachelor of Laws Degree, Advocate of the High Court of Kenya

b) Knowledge of contract drafting and negotiation
