Job Description :

 

Minimum Requirements:
To qualify for consideration, the following requirements are essential:

  • Grade 12 qualification/ equivalent.
  • Computer literacy skills.
  • Clean criminal record.
  • Post-graduate qualification (a Sales/ Marketing/ Management qualification beneficial).
  • Up-to-date knowledge of vehicle legislation and of trade practices.
  • Valid SA driver's license.
  • At least 10 years proven track record of used vehicle sales as a salesperson, with 2 years sales management and marketing skills, knowledge, and experience.
  • Ability to manage and administer a department, to provide organization, systems, and leadership.
  • Be able to motivate a sales team to achieve objectives.
  • Sales qualifications, technical qualifications an added advantage.

Job Specification:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • To establish the staffing levels required to achieve departmental objectives.
  • To select, hire, train and develop sales department staff.
  • To identify departmental training needs in conjunction with training staff.
  • To ensure resultant training programmes are completed and adequate records maintained.
  • Operate staff performance and appraisal systems and ensure action is taken on results.
  • Establish and review sales basic pay and incentive schemes.
  • Ensure all administrative functions, returns, record keeping, and clerical operations are carried out at the appropriate time and kept up to date.
  • Review with General Manager all activities and report systems within the department.
  • Ensure that adequate safety and security procedures exist and are operated.
  • Monitor cleaning of used car stock.
  • Monitor cleanliness of showroom and other sales related areas.
  • Maintain good liaison with other managers.
  • Advise General Manager and all other managers on sales matters.
  • Advise subordinates on appropriate sales related matters.
  • Maintain direct liaison with manufacturer’s representatives and all other contacts.
  • Propose special sales promotions as appropriate.
  • Ensure adequate stocks of car and product display materials are available.
  • Formulate marketing plan and initiate used car sales promotions.
  • Analyze local customer/car preference statistics and compare with used car forecasts, acting on any anomalies detected.
  • Handle customer complaints and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Maintain records of customer complaints and congratulations for analysis and use as required.
  • Review all pricing policies, discounts and “trade-in” dealing to maintain dealership profitability.
  • Monitor costs and general condition of demonstrator fleet.
  • Monitor sales department financial performance weekly.
  • Monitor credit and finance commission income to ensure budget requirements are met.
  • Monitor outstanding debtor situation and take appropriate action.
  • Ensure that all trading and stockholding of vehicles is within allocated floor plan facilities.
