Job Description :
An exciting and challenging opportunity has become available for an experienced and suitably qualified Chief Accountant to join the Finance team based in Tanzania.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day supervision (administrative and technical) to the direct reports and clerical personnel for the accounting and reporting function, ensuring the enforcement of finance and administration policies and controls ,reviewing existing practices and recommending enhancements in addition to as assisting the finance director in designing best practice standard policies and controls.
Requested profile :
Manage the finance team
- Provide guidance and training to the team within Laborex’s standard policy and procedures related to the accounting function.
- Provide proper leadership and training in the accounts department to ensure proper delegation in order to meet the required deadlines. Play supervisory role for the reporting finance team.
- Conduct performance appraisals as well as define and facilitate the development of direct
Accounts
- Ensure timely and accurate posting to the general ledger as well as reconciliations of the same to the sub ledger accounts before monthly closing.
- Ensure monthly accounts are closed and sent to Group according to the scheduled date.
- Ensure that all systems of internal control are operational and guarantee that the accounting and financial systems are working as intended.
- Conduct internal audits and random cash counts as and when required.
- Check and verify all payments, local purchase orders and petty cash before approval is given.
- Review clients, banks, suppliers, intercompany, supplier claims and imprest Work out the margin reconciliation monthly.
- Manage the fixed asset function in terms of posting the purchased fixed assets, reconciling the fixed asset register to the Ledger and coordinating the fixed assets labelling and stock take.
- Convene and conduct the supplier claims meeting ,maintain minutes ,debit the suppliers accordingly and ensure the supplier claims table is updated on monthly basis
- Manage the organization's financial resources, including budgeting, cash flow management, and financial forecasting
Supplier invoice postings and account reconciliations:
- Verify international supplier invoices and post them into the system.
- Ensure EXN journal from CP is included in the general ledger before closing monthly accounts for Laborex- Tanzania.
- Ensure that the DNTs are complete before filing.
- Reconcile the supplier’s statement to the individual ledger balances on a monthly basis.
- Oversee the Debiting of suppliers in respect to notes to supplier’s debtors account and subsequent follow up
Treasury
- Manage banking relationships, including negotiating terms and fees with banks and financial institutions.
- Purchase foreign currency as needed and manage currency exchange risk.
- Negotiate overdraft facilities and other credit facilities with banks and financial institutions.
Credit Control
- Manage and motivate a team of credit control
- Establish and monitor credit limits and terms for new and existing customers
- Prepare and present regular reports on the team's credit and collections performance to senior management
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve customer credit issues and improve collections performance
Administration tasks
- Oversee the organisations’ insurance procedure, including import/export administration (letters of credit), insurance declarations of stock, cash and goods in transit on renewal of policies as well as following up on insurance claims.
